Have
your Question Answered by the "I Ching"
(for entertainment
purposes only)
What is the "I
Ching"?
The "I Ching" is also known as the
"Book of Changes" and is the basis of Feng Shui. The I Ching is at least 5,000
years old and is one of the oldest books - if not the oldest book - on the
planet and one that has never been out of print since it first appeared. It is
considered by many people to be the most spiritual of all books, although it
doesn't stem from any religion. It merely puts you in tune with the universe -
if that's what you want - and lets you decide who or what is running things.
What does the I Ching Tell Us?
The I Ching - when
consulted correctly - answers questions. Originally it gave simple yes/no
responses, but over the years it evolved to provide 64 answers that covered all
aspects of human existence. These answers could be assumed to relate to any
situation people might find themselves in.
What Sort of Questions
Does it Answer?
If you ask the I Ching deep questions, then you get
deep answers. If you ask it trivial questions, you will get light, and somewhat
flippant, answers. The I Ching works on a deep level and should be used only
for serious inquiries. Questions should be phrased precisely. It's no good
asking, "What does the future hold for me?" The inquiry needs to be more
specific, E.G. "I have applied for this job - would it serve me well to get
it?" If you ask vaguely about the future you will receive similarly vague
answers. It is always useful to ask questions as to whether you will benefit
from changing an existing situation or entering a new one. Avoid questions that
elicit a yes/no answer or that are so big as to be unanswerable.
What Sort of Advice Does it Give?
The I Ching assumes we
all want to be moral, spiritually advancing, upright in our behaviour, good and
kind to others. Therefore, any advise you are going to get will provide
information that will be extremely beneficial to you and help you continue your
development. You will never be told what you should or shouldn't do by the I
Ching. The I Ching may well advise you to consider your actions a little more
carefully or not to embark on a particular course of action if it means hurting
the people around you.
